From Training Court to Match Day Confidence

About me

My name is Mackenzie, I’m a 19-year-old tennis coach from Scotland and a Level 2 qualified tennis coach with over three years of coaching experience across numerous tennis clubs.
During my coaching career, I’ve worked with players of different ages and ability levels, helping them improve their technical skills, match performance, confidence, and overall understanding of the game. Coaching in multiple club environments has given me strong experience adapting my sessions to suit different players, learning styles, and goals — from complete beginners to competitive club players.
Alongside coaching, I am also an active player. I came to tennis later than many players, which meant my development journey looked different from the traditional pathway. I’ve competed in a wide range of tournaments with mixed results, and while this presented challenges, it has given me a deep understanding of what it’s like to learn the game under pressure, manage expectations, and develop both mentally and technically over time.
This experience plays a huge role in my coaching approach. Because I didn’t have a “perfect” tennis background, I understand the frustrations players face — whether that’s struggling in matches, losing confidence, or feeling like their training doesn’t translate into results. I place a strong emphasis not only on technical development, but also on the mental side of tennis, helping players compete better and enjoy the game more.
I am currently preparing to complete my Level 3 tennis coaching qualification in February, as part of my long-term goal to continue developing as a coach and provide the highest possible standard of coaching to my players.
My coaching philosophy is simple:
clear guidance, honest feedback, and structured development, both on and off the court.
